I was lovingly treated to a used Pink Blackberry Pearl 8110 from EBAY by my fiance for my birthday. He was assured that the phone would work with any O2 chip so happily went ahead with the purchase. I rushed out to but an O2 PAYG sim to put in it but was dismayed on the morning of my birthday to find that the main Blackberry functIons do not work on PAYG- even unlocked- only on contract. The seller is now refusing to refund phone, insisting there was no misinformation on her part! The customer service advisors at 02 have also informed me that the Blackberry is free with a contract, and one is available on an even cheaper contract on Orange. We will accept partial blame for not doing our research before purchase, however I did enquire with another seller of the same brand phone earlier today if I could use PAYG and he said YES! I asked again if I could access all the internet functions and he replied NO- I would have to buy a separate contract for that! I just wanted to warn any other potential buyers who may be unaware of the situation to always ask, ask and ask again till you get all the correct information as I don't want anyone to be as disappointed with their purchase as I am- needless to say I am taking myself to the Orange shop tomorrow to get myself a SHINY, NEW, FREE one!
P.S- still diggin' the phone though-Recommended!
P.P.S- please feel free to contact me with any question's you have and I will do my best to help you- I'm no pro but I'm learning as I go!
On 5th August I was kindly contacted by an Ebay member who knows their stuff! They would like to add-
'If you have a blackberry and put a PAYG in it wont work at all. If you have a contract sim and put it in a blackberry, it still wont work. If you have a blackberry your contract has to be a "Blackberry tariff" so if anyone does buy a blackberry they need to change there contract tariff to a "Blackberry one".'
Many Thanks.
