Ford indicator, lights

I just thought I would offer some advice when buying and fittingthese second hand, I have sold a few recently and realized after a few queries from my customers that there areloads of variations even though they look exactly the same and come from the same model and year etc. It seems the variations relate to different wiper speeds or rear wash wipe functions, headlight flash, horn switchetc. etc. Althoughmost are interchangeable and work fineto save any probs I would suggest asking your seller for the part numbers that are sometimes printed on the plastic or sometimes on a paper sticker and match these exactly with your old one. I have now taken to including these in my descriptions where possible.

Here are a few tips or ideas that may help when removing or replacing them, Firstly remove the top and bottom cowlings around the steering column, they are sometimes held with cross head screws but more commonly by star head ones, there should be 2 in the top cowling and 4 in the bottom one.

Before attempting to remove the plugs on the stalk unityou need to unscrew the crosshead screw top centre using a stubby screwdriverand you can then lift itpartially clear of the steering column, the 2 plugs are fastened at one end by a plastic clip and hinged at the other, once you have released the clip, which on some it pushes in and others it lifts away !the plug will swing out and should eventually unhook from the hinged end, they are awkward devils so you will need to persevere. In theory to replace your new one its just a reversal of this procedure but be patient the whole process can be a bit tricky..
