Some tips to avoid being scammed

The eBay buying and selling experience 99% of the time is fantastic, I love being an ebayer, and suggsest everyone gives it a go.

I have been buying and selling on eBay for well over 6 years now

In that time I have managed to avoid most of the scammers out there.

Here are some tips that might help you avoid them as well

Please bear in mind not everyone is a scammer, most people are decent, but sadly as with everything in life, we are always judged by the silly minority

These are "Common Sense" tips, that might help you avoid being ripped off.

CHECK your seller out

A little bit of basic research using freely available information may well avoid a loss to you.

here are some of the warning signs to look for.

Feedback check out their buying and selling patterns for the last 30 days, is the seller suddenly offering a high priced electrical item after suddenly only buying or selling very low priced items for the last 30 days?

Are all the people buying from this seller, newly registered or very low feedback IDs?

If the answer is yes, it could be that the seller has lots of fake accounts which are used to build feedback and lull you into a false sense of security.

Buyer Protection does the listing have it showing at the top?, to qulaify for buyer protection the seller must have at least 50 feedback and has proved to paypal they are who they say they are

Payment methods are they only offering Ppaypal and uncrossed postal orders?, this is a sign that they dont want any traceable payments going through their bank account

Email addresses is there an something in the listing thats says " email@ xxxxx.xxx for more details", if so its because they want you to trade off of ebay with them, which invalidates any protection you might have

Not responsible for postal losses biggest scam of them all, and any seller with that in there listing should be avoided like the plague, what they are actually saying is "pay me, i wont send your goods, and will claim they got lost in the post"

The good news is hat if you paid by paypal, you can make a claim against a seller that tries that one

Impatiance Scammers rely on this, they know you want it now and as cheap as possible.

If its too good to be true, then it probably is.

Simply by bookmarker the seller and item and waiting 7 days before commiting to buy will stop most scammers, as its normally only 2 or 3 days after they start scamming people that bthe negs roll in, be patient if the deal really is that fgood the seller will have more, and so will other sellers.

The latest craze Like PS3's, there is NO legal way for anyone on ebay to get highly desirable items like these when the high streets havent got them, if you cant get it in the high street right, then you cant get it on ebay either.

And if you can, then it has been imported via the back door, and the maker will give you no warranty at all.

Always always check the sellers sales history, if they are selling an item like this, then they will have a good track record of selling similar items going back many months.

Compare sellers if only one seller is selling the item you want a cheap price and no other sellers are selling at the same price be very wary.

If you look at some of the sellers listed to the right of this guide, you will notice they obtained their feedback by buiying and or selling 1p items, this is a danger sign, and if you see a seller with lots of feedback like that avoid them at all costs

Best Classic Stocking Fillers

I`ve been trying to find a store within the Ebay community that sells the old classic stocking fillers that I used to get in my Christmas Stocking when I was a kid.

I even tried using Google to locate some fillers, I didn`t want buy the odd item here and there as the P

'Cannot be held responsible for loss/damage' - RUBBISH!

Hi thereHave you noticed in some auctions the Seller will indicate that he/she CANNOT be held responsible for loss or damage in the post......and lots of things go missing!Well, this is nonsense, the SELLER IS responsible until it arrives at the buyers door and a signature is obtained and I'm not the only reviewer to mention it...but it doesn't hurt to hear it again, particularly in connection with the sale of mobile phones and mp3 players. as quite a few of these go missing according to the post office. mostly as a result of BAD packing, putting a piece of brown paper around a box containing a 100 phone is asking for trouble...don't you think?Saying to the BUYER ''How do I know you haven't recieved it - I have proof of postage'' is NOT enough. He/she may be lying to you but it is down to the seller to PROVE it didn't arrive and you can only do this by sending the item ''Special Delivery''(4.50 or 5.70 for phones) That way you get a signature on delivery it is insured to 500 so if you haven't got a signature you can re-imburse the buyer and get ALL your money back from the Post-Office.By the way - ebay/Paypal will ask you for a tracking number if it goes to dispute and if you can't show a tracking number or signature which you only get with 'Special delivery' or'signed for' (if the goods are underunder 32)you can't win.I hope you found this of interest...If you are guilty of sending expensive item by the ''cheapskates'' method, then you won't like what I have written. If on the otherhand you are a buyer...maybe it will make you more wary of who you buy from.

HOW TO CHECK IF FEEDBACK IS REAL OR FAKE

IF YOU WANT TO CHECK IF FEEDBACK OF SOMEONE IS REAL NOT FAKE THEN DO SOME OF THE FOLLOWING STEPS:

1- CHECK IF THE SAME BUYER HAS LEFT LOTS OF SIMILAR FEEDBACK - COULD HAVE A SECOND ACCOUNT AND SET UP FAKE TRANSACTIONS

2- CHECK THE DATE OF FEEDBACK LEFT, IF LOT OF FEEDBACK HAS BEEN LEFT WITHIN 1 MINUTE OF EACH OTHER IT MAY BE FRAUDULENT

3- IF THE BUYER IS VERIFIED WITH PAYPAL HE WILL USUALLY BE SERIOUS

4- IF THE BUYER HAS ASKED FOR A STRANGE REQUEST IN AN EMAIL LIKE TO POST TO A FRIEND IN NIGERIA SAY NO. SAY YOU WILL POST TO A CONFIRMED PAYPAL ADDRESS IN THE UK

IF YOU HEED THESE INSTRUCTIONS AND YOU WILL HAVE A SAFE TRANSACTION AND A HAPPY ONE AT THAT!!!

Donkey, sheep, nativity dressing up/fancy dress oufit

As it's coming up to the Christmas season with nativity plays and all, I have been looking for an appropriate bargain to dress my toddler in for her navitity play. Only there aren't many bargains to be had! It seems most new costumes seen to go for about 12 with quite high postage costs.

I would like to share my newly aquired knowledge and bring to the attention of all those fretting parents, that most listed are ladybird (Woolworths) costumes that can be aquired direct from the shop for 13. They are in Woolworths "The Big Red Book" and can be ordered online, in-store or by phone. If you choose to collect from a store there are no delivery charges. So why pay this much plus inflated postage!

Ford indicator, lights

I just thought I would offer some advice when buying and fittingthese second hand, I have sold a few recently and realized after a few queries from my customers that there areloads of variations even though they look exactly the same and come from the same model and year etc. It seems the variations relate to different wiper speeds or rear wash wipe functions, headlight flash, horn switchetc. etc. Althoughmost are interchangeable and work fineto save any probs I would suggest asking your seller for the part numbers that are sometimes printed on the plastic or sometimes on a paper sticker and match these exactly with your old one. I have now taken to including these in my descriptions where possible.

Here are a few tips or ideas that may help when removing or replacing them, Firstly remove the top and bottom cowlings around the steering column, they are sometimes held with cross head screws but more commonly by star head ones, there should be 2 in the top cowling and 4 in the bottom one.

Before attempting to remove the plugs on the stalk unityou need to unscrew the crosshead screw top centre using a stubby screwdriverand you can then lift itpartially clear of the steering column, the 2 plugs are fastened at one end by a plastic clip and hinged at the other, once you have released the clip, which on some it pushes in and others it lifts away !the plug will swing out and should eventually unhook from the hinged end, they are awkward devils so you will need to persevere. In theory to replace your new one its just a reversal of this procedure but be patient the whole process can be a bit tricky..

TKO - WTF is a TKO? eBay Jargon, but eBay Don't Know

TKO - WTF is a TKO? eBay Jargon, but eBay Don't KnowYou may have received a TKO NOTICE from eBay. This will tell you that your account has been "taken over". If so, you may be wondering what TKO stands for. We certainly wondered what it meant, and tried to find out...Nobody Knows!Today, we got an eBay Alert Message, with a TKO warning. Our first port of call when we think of a question like this is to use Google, and we can usually find the answer in seconds. Today was different. We tried several search criteria including:tko ebaytko ebay jargontko ebay jargon glossarywhat does tko meanwhat does tko mean ebaywhat does tko stand forwhat does tko stand for ebaytko tko ebayebay jargon glossary... and failed to find the answer.Bulletin BoardsWe did find thousands of bulletin board entries from people who had received TKO's and who discussed them as though they had been born, bred and brought up with them, but nobody actually gave an answer to the question.eBay Help Search (No Help!)We also tried searching the eBay help system, and found nothing (but that didn't surprise us).The AnswerWe decided that as soon as we got time, we would add an eBay guide about TKO's. We spoke to our Power Seller Personal Account Manager (you qualify for one of these if eBay extract a certain monthly fee level from your selling activities), she didn't know. One of her colleagues phoned us back later, and he didn't know either, but he guessed it stood for TaKeOver! (Apparently in eBay jargon ATO stands for Account Take Over). If we manage to get a better explanation, we will add it to this guide, but until then...TKO = TaKeOverWTF?Please don't ask what WTF stands for!

Kenneth Jay Lane Strawberry Necklace - Genuine or Not??

The big question - are they GENUINE? I am a huge fan of Kenneth Jay Lane and am lucky enough to own a few pieces of his gorgeous jewellery - my lovely husband is very generous! I am always on the lookout for new pieces to add to my collection.I have recently noticed that there are sellers on EBAY who are selling KJL strawberry necklaces for highly discounted prices. In the UK, these necklaces retail for around 75 (Netaporter) and in the US, around $120 so are these necklaces too good to be true? Well, if you got one at a big discount and the item looks great, does it matter? Probably not except that some of these cheap necklaces are then being sold/ auctioned onwardly at full designer retail price in the UK.I can't say for certain that these necklaces aren't the genuine article but the price alone should raise alarm bells. I was very tempted but was put off when one seller didn't reply to my question as to whether the item is genuine. There are some very good quality imitations available in the States which are priced according. I am not saying that all the necklaces on EBAY are imitations - but as a buyer, you should be aware of the possibility of fake items. If you are paying designer prices, make sure you are receiving the genuine article. Some key tips to help you through the minefield:

Buy only from reputable websites - Netaporter, Zentosa, Maxandchloe, Patriciafield, etc and check out their range and descriptions (length of chain, size, colours available). If you do choose to buy on EBAY.....
Check out the photos - are they of the actual item or have they been taken from other websites (contravenes EBAY's rules) - ask for more pictures if you are not sure. Sellers of the genuine article should be happy to provide more detail!
Ask lots of questions - the seller should provide some detail about the necklace (size, chain, signature tag, branded packaging if any?) - if there are no details, ASK!! Does the detail provided match the detail on the reputable sites, eg, size of strawberry and importantly, length of chain?
Even imitations can have a KJL tag!
Use your common sense - where has the seller purchased the item from and does it add up? For example, if they say they have purchased them all from a chain store and therefore paid retail price - why would they sell them at a discount? Sellers need to make a profit and is it really likely that they are lucky enough to receive several unwanted genuine KJL gifts!!!
Check the seller's feedback as a buyer - it can be quite revealing! With Christmas shopping in full swing now, there will be lots on the market - grab yourself a bargain but just make sure you get what you think you are getting! I hope this helps...

Van Leasing

Van leasing is generally refereed to as a "Finance Lease"This guide explains the main points of leasing

It is a method normally for companies that allows lower than normal monthly payments.

Small deposits. VAT does not hav have to be paid for upfront. Deposits range from just a few hundred pounds to most of the vehicle.
All deposits count as advance rental in the eyes of the TAX office and are 100% tax allowable as an expense
Generally the Govrment favours leasing for small business since all subsequent rentals are also 100% TAX efficient
Manufacturers favour Van leasing and the discounts are often greater to the customer as it protects the future second hand value.
At the end of the agreement it is time to sell the vehicle. There is usually a final payment at the end which is generally oly a small proportion of the vehicles value.
The customer gets to keep 95-98 % of any disposal profit.
The vehicle can be sold to whomever the customer pleases, but no further TAX relief may be claimed as 100% has already been given. Time to sell it really.
No inspection is done at the end for damage
No milage limits
If the vehicle is to do a super high milage, or you expect to damage the vehicle, you may want to consider paying more per month and reducing the final payment so there is not a shortfall. e.g a courier doing 1500 miles per week it is unlikely that the vehicle will be worth much after 4yrs.

Quick guide: carrying a baby in a wraparound sling

Wrap around carriers are some of the most versatile baby carriers. Using the same wrap, you can carry your child from birth to toddler. There are dozens of ways of carrying your child in a wrap. This guide is not an exhaustive resources but a quick guide to the most popular carries. Carrying your baby on your frontYou will probably start by carrying your baby on your front, either lying down on upright. Front carries are comfortable, even for long periods of time, they are easy to start with. The craddle / hammock carry

The wrap is tied in order to form like a pouch or a hammock at the waist. The baby is carried lying down in the pouch. In addition, they are held securely by the fabric crossing over them. It's a convenient carry to breastfeed discreetly on the go.

The wrap cross carryMany parents find that the wrap cross carry is the easiest to learn. Your baby is securely maintained at the waist while you wrap the rest of the fabric. It is ideal for older babies or for babies who prefer being held upright even from birth. It's the favourite position for babies suffering from reflux and is also recommended for babies with hip dysplasia.Carrying your baby on your hipHip carries are very convenient for shorter carries, when baby wants to go up and down ok. The sling spreads the weight between one shoulder and your back. It can feel less comfortable for longer periods of carrying. Remember to keep your baby straight and switch sides regularly. Avoid hip carries if you suffer from back pain.Carrying your baby on your backCarrying your baby on your back can feel daunting at first. And yet, once you sart, you never look back. Your hands are totally free, it is more comfortable for heavier children. In most carries, they can see above your shoulder, yet they can tune out and fall asleep comfortably once they've had enough stimulation. Most parents start carrying their babies on their back once they are heavier but you can very well start from birth. The back wrap cross carry with chest knotWe've chosen to present this wrap here as our experience with dozens of mums has shown that it is one of the easiest to master. The knot of your chest holds the baby in place while you take your time and continue wrapping. The crossed rucksackThis is one of our favourite carries. You can carry the child fairly high and the cross over the baby's bottom provides extra support. When the child falls asleep, bring the fabric over their head to support it.The short rucksackAnother favourite you will ask? Yes, well because it is very quick to put on even if it can feel less supportive for a longer carry. It is best made with a shorter wrap.Do you have any questions or comments? The Big 3 - lowering your backpackign weight 1

There is a lot of information on lightweight backpacking, but tend to be mainly American. My gripe with these sites is all the measurements are in imperial. I know some of you out there still use it, but i defy any of you to tell me what the volume of your rucksack is in cubic inches (unless you're American or have an American Pack). Still, there are some useful information on there, despite this little pet hate of mine.

If you visit some of the sites then you'll notice that some of these people are absolutely obsessed with lowering pack weight. They try and get a workable weight of "5lbs" somewhere in the region of 2.5 kilos or even less. Take one look at the equipment they use, and you'll soon realise that what they suggest would barely work in the UK, perhaps only in high summer. What i'm trying to suggest on these pages is not the ultralightweight principles of taking a binliner to sleep in (hands up who think I'm joking? Because I'm not), but a pointer to how I've lowered my own pack weight and perhaps how i can lower it further (which often costs money, and is sometimes free). It would be good to add pages by other people, explaining what they carry and how much it weighs. There is also a link to a little program, Backpacking Gear Weight Calculator, that allows you to log all your equipment weights and just tick the ones you take on a trip to work out the weight. I have put a few files compatible with this online so people can compare gear lists.

Some of this might sound extreme, but when you realise that little items like keys, wallet and other things you'd not think of, can weigh as much as a couple of days' food (or more), it starts adding up. Often it is just a case of leaving things behind, such as taking one pan instead of 2, or eating out of the pan instead of carrying a plate. The most obvious place to lose weight is in your big 3 of Tent, Sleeping bag and Rucksack. I'll add the kitchen to this as well, as in total this can easily weigh more than one of the other 3, but will discuss that elsewhere.

1. Tent. This is something you'll have to throw money at. Often, cheaper tents weigh more. The ultimate lightweight tent is the Terra Nova Laser Competition tent that tips the scales at 960g and the bank balance by 235. This is light, and there are compromises. The size inside is claimed to be enough for 2, but that's pushing it. I use it's heavier brother, just called the Laser (1.3kg), and it's spacious inside for 1 person. I have some gallery pages here, that give you a feel for the tent. The compromise is that i don't feel too safe inside in strong winds, and the new lighter Competition is hardly going to be significantly stronger - however it was recently taken on a winter round of the munros so it has to be quite strong. If you are willing to compromise on weight, then without doubt, the most praised tent is the Hilleberg Akto (at around 1.6kg). This is much sturdier, and is suitable for all year use. Small price to pay for 300g I think. It is significantly more expensive however, at about 300.

If you have less money, then there are bargains to be had. Such as the EurekaSpitfire Solo, at 1.6 kg and less than 100. There was even a tent available from Argos, but no longer available, that retailed for 30 and was reduced to 5. It was sturdy and weighed in at 2kg, and people raved about it. Unfortunately, the tents Argos tents now sell are not to this standard and I would not recommend them for backpacking. Incidentally, the original Argos ProAction 1 (the same name in new catalogue, but the new one is no more than a play tent) can be bought from e-bay for about 30-50, which shows how much it is valued. Just make sure you get the proper, original PA-1 tent which is double skinned.

Further weight can be lost by the use of tarps and / or bivvy bags. Personally, I don't think the weight gained is significant if you use both, over the tents mentioned above. Especially when you take into account British weather. It's an interesting option, perhaps a good weathered bivvy for a 2 day long walk could be a good idea, especially if you take cold food and remove the need for a stove and pans. As a proud new owner of a Rab Survival Zone, I intend to try the bivvy method out on a couple of summer walks.

2. Sleeping bag. In winter I use a Mountain Equipment Classic Dragon 750 (02/03 Season), it's down filled and good to -12C, and unavailabe now but the Classic 750 is similar. It also weighs 1.3kg, about the same as my tent. In winter, the weight is perfectly ok, it is a warm and comfortable bag. But I do find it a little tight around the chest, and I'm not too sure on that. If it does feel restrictive, I can always invest in a Freedom Baffle which zips in and gives extra space around the chest (well done ME, excellent idea!). However, in summer you're carrying around a bag that's far too warm. Odds are that you might not go camping when the weather gets to -12C, so you need something a little lighter and more suitable. There are many sub kilo bags that keep you warm to just below freezing. Rab Quantum, PHD Miniimus and Cumulus Ultralight all offer suitable bags, but after much deliberation I went for the Alpkit Pipedream 400. It is of similar weight (770g) to what RAB and PHD offer, but it is significantly cheaper at 100 including postage. It also has a half length zip, useful for us less nimble types to get in (and out) and for venting. It's been comfortable for the couple of nights i have tested it so far, but most sleeping bags are snug for an XL body. Alpkit also do a Pipedream 600 that's good for winter, and a couple of budget Alpine Dream bags as the Pipedream was so popular, they've sold out.

Most people feel the need to use a sleeping mat. If I'm not camping on rock then I find i'm OK. I do have a cheap foam mat that I use when the weather is cooler however, and as i get older I might find the comfort of a Thermarest ProLite 3 short at 370g worth every gram. But at around 60, it isn't cheap. Instead, i decided to dip my toes in the water with an Alpkit (yep those guys again) WeeAiric for 15. This weighs about 450g, and so only 80g of a weight penalty over the much more expensive Thermarest. In winter, i use an Exped Down mat, which weighs a full kilo, but is oh so luxurious! If used with a top bag in summer, may be comprable in weight to my usual system, only be infinately more comfortble.

3. Rucksack. Again, i'm not too sure on the exact model i was using, other than it was a Karrimor and heavy (2.4kg). So this has now been replaced by a OMM Mountain Mover 50 15, (previously Kimmlite) which weighs only 1.15kg. It can be pared down to 700g by removing the back pad and straps too. I have removed bits from it, and have managed to reduce the weight to 900g. I reckon you need to at least remove the lid to get near 700g, and perhaps even the hip padding. Some sources have suggested you cut off the hipbelt! I find that 900g is OK, and removing the pockets and mesh pocket on the back would remove too much functionality for my liking. It is a comfortable pack, but has not been used to backpack yet, only a couple of winter walks. I've been too busy trying to slim it down. I like the large pockets on the hipbelts that are good for food and your printed map and compass. What I really don't like is the string used to close the pack, when webbing and a buckle would be the obvious choice. I liked it so much, i added a 32 litre OMM Classic Mountain Marathon to my growing rucksac collection which works really well for a lightweigh overnighter in summer. There are even lighter packs by likes of Go-lite, sometimes down to about 400g (the Breeze), the Gust , at just under 600g appears most practical and did appeal, but it does look like a sack of spuds, and lacks useful pockets on the outside. Recently spotted the Golite Trek Pack which looks as if it would do the job, but I was unaware of it until now. The Gregory G Pack is also worthy of consideration at 1.3kg.

Summary.

Aim for a tent that weighs no more than 2kg per person (1kg is good!).

Try and get a summer bag that weighs no more than 1kg, and it will ideally serve you for sub-zero temps too (up to -5).

Rucsacs are heavier than you think, try and keep it well below 2kg, ideally below 1.5.

So a realistic max target weight for the big 3 is 4.5kg. Try and keep below this, mine come in at 3.9kg with scope to lower this to 2.8kg with a new sleeping bag and the rucksac minimised in weight.

Themed Doll Houses

Decorating a dolls house is much easier than it looks. Although it can be time consuming, the sense of achievement when that empty shell has been transformed into an exquisite home is wonderful. They can be decorated in much the same manner as thier real life cousins, by painting and wallpapering, carpeting, tiling, cladding and panelling.

The most frequently used being paint paper and carpet, especially by those new to the hobby.

When building a huse from a particular era, the first decision is to decide which one. Victorian and Georgian are still ahead in the popularity stakes, but there is an increased interest in tudor houses and and interesting range of architectural designs are now on the market.

Victorian

The Victorian period is one of the more popular eras. The houses tend to have large rooms, plenty of character, and their furniture was decorative. As they tended to show their wealth by their possessions, cramming as much into a room as they could get away with, it is ideal for miniaturists who like to do the same, knowing that it won't lok out of place.

Georgian

These are still the most common houses within the hobby. Their popularity lies in the large attractive buildings influenced by classical architecture, often referred to as neoclassical style. The main themes available are Greek and Roman, Terraces and Town houses, Palladian and Country houses, so there is a broad enough spectrum to appeal to most people.

Tudor

Wooden Tudor doll houses are wonderful display peices. They are attractive on the outside and can replicate Tudor dwellings very well. The image of a Tudor home is that of a white building encased in dark wooden timbers, with either a thatched, tiled or slate roof, Internally, the paneled walls and beamed ceilings give an air of warmth.

Architectural

The growing popularity of houses based on the work of well known architects is well deserved. Although not many homes fall into this catagory, I feel sure that they will increase. The DHE doll house Lychern is a good example.

Modern

Most themed doll houses replicate historical periods, but they don't need to. Although there are limited modern properties commercially available, remember that most modern families live in older properties, There is nothing wrong in creating a modern theme in an older styled house.

Whatever them you decide to use for your your miniature home, remember, the only thing that stops you is your imagination.

Enjoy your hobby!!

Many of us instead of trying to locate a good style in a bra, choose to go for a bra size smaller to push the bust up, There is not need to squeeze :) simply look for plunge bras or push up bras, many come with light padding to help with your lift . Push/plunge bras are made to push up and pull together, and many are very very comfortable to wear.

Cloth Nappy Jargon

Confused about cloth nappies, overloaded with information and dont know what any of it means - I have written a quick and simple guide to get you started learning the cloth nappy lingo

Shaped

This is a nappy that looks like a disposable by way of shape and how it is fittedbut is made from cloth instead. It is often referred to as a two-part nappy as it needs a waterproof cover.

Pocket / Stuffable

This is a nappy with a waterproof outer layer and a stay dry inner layerthat has an opening (a pocket) where you can 'stuff' the absorbant part of the nappy - an insert ora prefold. There is no need for a wrap. This means there is only one layer to put on which can be especially helpful with wriggly babies and toddler but the main advantage is that you can vary the absorbancy i.e. add extra inserts for night time or long journeys

Wrap

A waterproof nappy cover that goes over the cloth nappy

Boosters

A booster is a rounded retangle shape layered material designed to be an added extra to the nappy if it is needed. It can be used inside shaped nappies (or between the nappy and the wrap) or in pocket nappies. Especially recommended for night time when extra absorbancy is needed.

Inserts

These are absorbant pieces that are put into pocket nappies. Much like boosters they can be slightly shaped or long and thin. Most pocket nappies have particular inserts to go with them however inserts is also used to refer to the other things you can put in the pocket such as prefolds or terries as you dont have to use a set one.

Liners

Every cloth nappy needs a liner (unless of course it has one in built). There are mainly two different types available. Fleece or paper. Each have their own advantages. Fleece is especially good at keeping moisture away from the skin however for older babies and toddlers you will need to flush any solids down the loo - they 'peel' away quite easily in most cases. Paper liners are disposable and can be flushed down the loo with any solids it may contain and most are biodegradable. They allow moisture to pass through one way only keeping baby dry.

NEW Paypal imitation SCAM

NEW FRAUD SCAM.

I have very nearly fell for the latest scam thats doing the rounds and want to warn you of it.

It went as follows :-

I recieved an email fromPaypal confirmingmy paymentof a Laptop from abroad (Apparentley bought on eBay). On the email was a notice saying ' If you have not authourised this payment, please click here. After picking myself up off the floor from the shock of the $255 payment I had supposedly just made, I clicked on the link.

There I was presented with the Paypal log in page - Asking for my email address and password to log in and report to Paypal to claim back the money.

I mustadmit that I did enter my email address butsensed something was amiss before continuing.

I then checked on my internet banking to check for any payments to Paypal but there was none.

I then went onto the Paypal website and checked my account and GUESS WHAT !! No money was missing !!

I WAS VERY NEARLY SCAMMED.

The email I was sent was identical to the genuine one and therewas even an item number and eBay page with the laptop on it with me as ythe winner. The scammers are hoping that after reading the email,You panic and log in without thinking. I nearly did !!

This is there latest way of getting your personal info so please be aware of this scam.

Hope this helps.

Extortionate Postage Charges

"I got a bargain!!! Ebays so cheap.....but look at the postage!?

This is a real annoyance to me, and please bare in mind this is my opinion, although I suspect it is similar to others thoughts on this when they get drawn to these amazing and astonishingly cheap items listed in Ebay.

Who wouldnt click on a link for a Television or something equally amazingon ^Buy it now^ for just .99p.. wow what a bargain..but hold on..why is the postage 200.00 or whatever...

Simply put, the seller doesnt wish to pay those fees proportionate to the sale pricethat we all get charged when we list our items fairly.

Just imagine how much money these people are saving themselves each time you purchase from one of these ebayers!

However, on to other extortionate postage charges.

As you look over Ebay you start to see trends, one has been the postage charge/s, these are where some sellers make money on this part of the sale as well.

It is however fair to say that buyers as well as sellers should consider what goes in to postage charges:

Packing materials (various and assorted) if you dont have enough items that you have saved from recycling then you have to purchase these things.

Envelopes, wrapping paper, boxes, bubble wrap, wrapping foam, packing tapeect.

Most post offices are not in your back garden! Many people need to drive to their local post office, or maybe there isnt a local one as its been shut down, car fuel costs money.( so use a bike or walk...ok the upkeep of your bike costs too, as well as shoe leather and time it takes to get there.)

Postage stamps, and that little matter of using "SIGNED FOR RECORDED DELIVERY" which costs extra and is, in my not so humble opinion worth every penny to stop fraudulent ebayers from claiming that they have not received the item you have so carefully packed..(see my packing guide)

Please ensure that you charge appropriate prices for packing and posting, you are entitled to re coup the money you have spent fairly on getting the item to the buyer, but, you dont need to make money on that side of it too, all it does is make buyers suspicious and makes it harder for others on ebay to sell their items without having to answer emails about postal charges.

Happy Ebaying

and thank you for reading.

Lawnmower Collect or Mulch

Typically this becomes an issue on larger lawns above about 1/4 of an acre, or if mowing the lawn is simply taking too long.

Essentially mulching mowers recut every blade of grass very finely, and deposit the tiny shavings backinto thelawn where they should barely be visible.

Unlike many preconceptions mulching is able to inhibit moss growth, and lead to healthier lawn but you need to follow some basic rules.

Cut regularly and often, generally taking no more than a 1/3rd of the height off the grassat any one time.

Keep blades sharp, and the underside of the deck clean so that the grass can be circulated and recut many times.

Try and leave your grass a bit longer to leave yourself sufficient space to"hide" the clippings. Mulching works best when the grass is cut no lower than37mm (1.5") to 50mm (2").

The advantagesof mulching are:

Up to 30% time saving over an equivalent sized collecting machine because you simply don't have a box to empty.

Nounsightly mound of compost at the end of the garden

You don't get covered in grass dragging it out of the grass box to put it on the compost pile.

Healthier lawn, with less need to feed and water because the nutrients are constantly being returned.

Disadvantages are:

If the grass gets too long you may see lots of clumps after it is cut. To remove you may to cut again the next day to disburse them. (Remember though collecting can also be a real chore when the grass gets very long)

Although hidden the cut grass is still there. Because of this it will pick up on your feet, and those of pets and children for up to 24 hours after the grass is cut.

Overall mulching can be a massive benefit although it is not for everyone. In our experience it works best on paddock type areas where you are not looking for the perfect finish, but want a tidy lawn with the least fuss.

Many hay fever sufferers have told us that they prefer mulch mowers because they don't have to handle the cuttings at all.

AVOID BUYING POLICE AUCTION EBOOKS

DO NOT PURCHASE THESE EBOOKS UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE A BUYING, ALOT OF THE NEWBIES ARE BUYING THEM BELIEVING THAT THEY ARE BIDDING ON AN ACTUAL ITEM. YESTERDAY I SAW ONE OF THESE EBOOKS ACTUALLY SELL FOR 1220 THE BIDDERS THOUGHT THEY WERE BUYING A PARAMOTOR, IVE SEEN NO END BID ON WHAT THEY THINK IS AN XBOX AND PAY OVER 200 FOR THEM. THE MISLEADING FACTOR IS THAT THE SELLER PUTS A PHOTO OF AN XBOX OR WHATEVER AND THE NEWBIE THINKS THATS WHAT THEY ARE BUYING, IF THEY TOOK THE TIME TO READ IT THEY WOULD REALISE JUST WHAT THEY WERE BUYING BUT FOR SOME REASON THEY DONT SEEM TO REALISE, AND I THINK THE SELLER RELIES ON THIS, TYPE IN POLICE AUCTIONS AND CHECK THE FEEDBACK

Do you realize what could be in your pocket change?

Clashed-Dies, filled dies, capped-dies and even strongly Rotated-Dies. Broadstruck ''railroad rims'', Clipped-planchets, sintered planchets and even Blank planchets can all be found in circulation and sold for a generous profit. Many doubled dies are out there that are worth much much more than face value. 1984 ''doubled-ear'' lincoln cents have been found and sell for around $100. Other good 'pocket change' doubled dies to look forinclude 1964, 1971, 1972, 1980, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1995, and 1997

Sell your proof sets 1968 to 2006

Sell your proof sets 1968 to 2006

MY Recommendation is to sell all your proof sets 1968 to 2006

Sell them now,

In two months they will be a lot cheaper than they are now

IN 2007 the mnit is coming out with about 900,000,000. dollars worth of new coins for the collector.

Most collectors will want the new coins and will sell off the the coins that they have the most of PROOF SETS.1968 to 2006.

I like the proof sets from 1950 to 1964 a lot and I think that they are under priced.

THEmost under pricedset of the lot is the 1964 proof set.

Let look at the 1964 proof.

1964 Proof set is 90% silver in the Dime,Quarter, and the Half-Dollar

1964 Proof set has a one year type coin THE Half-Dollar,

This is the only 1964 proof half with 90% silver.

THE 1964 silver Proof set only sells for a little over SILVER.

With silver at 13.00 an oz, is worth about 9.00 in SILVER

Buy all the 1964 Proof sets you can fine,

You will be GLAD you did.

2006 Doubled Die Lincoln cent reported

The first strong doubled die obverse reported for the 2006 Lincoln cent! The coin boasts a Lincoln portrait with a strongly doubled earlobe with the secondary lobe fully displaced from its point of origin to the southwest on Lincolns upper neck. Significant doubling can also be seen in the lower areas of Lincolns beard. This new doubled ear variety has been assigned an FS listing number of FS-01-2006-101 by J.T. Stanton and will be included in future editions of the Cherrypickers' Guide To Rare Die Varieties by Bill Fivaz and Stanton. Information was obtained from the ConecaOnline.org website

What is a 1998 Type-2 Reverse Lincoln Cent?

A rather new addition to the 'RedBook' are 1998, 1999, and 2000 'WIDE AM' Lincoln cents (all from Philadelphia mint - no mintmark). Also referred to as 'Type 2' reverses, these varieties were made with reverse dies intended for PROOF cents. They are easily identified by a space between the A and M of AMERICA. The space is wide enough so it can even be seen without magnification! On normal coins of these dates, the A and M are nearly touching. All 3 can be found in pocket change and bring a substantial premium over face value. $10 - $40 for the 1998 and 2000, and $100 - $300 for the 1999

These coins are still in circulation and with enough searching, you WILL find one.

Taking Digital Pictures for eBaY Promotion

1/ Keep it Small- Keep the size down to a maximum of 400 pixels wide. Smaller pictures upload faster and look better in your listing. Most digital cameras have a 1 Million Pixel or VGA setting. Use this for your eBaY images. But do remember to set it back afterwards!

2/ Make it Square! - Your eBaY galley picture will be presented (squashed)into asquare. Remember this when you photograph your subject and your gallery images will look in proportion. If your subject really is too long and thin to make it square, consider adding text or background frame or maybe it's boxto make it square.

becomes...

but adding the box makes the picture square so...

becomes...

3/ More is best - Include further images in your listing. Imagine you are buying the same item... Would you like to see it from the back or any part in closer detail?

Close up showing flexible LCD Screen on the Fuji S9500

4/ Avoid Flash with close up shots - If photographing small items or detail, try a shot without using the flash. Press 'Flash' button on camera until flash symbol appear to be crossed out. This will often give the picture a more natural appeal. Some camera's such as the new Fuji FinePixF and S series are capable of shooting without flash in almost no light at all without needing a tripod.

With Flashand Without...

5/ Beware of unwanted reflections or distracting backgrounds. Go for a plain background - need not be a professional backdrop - often some coloured card or white sheet will do.

Hmmm... Which camera is for sale?!

6/ Don't over-manipulate - Photo software is great but too many product shots are ruined by over editing and sharpening. This takes time and maycause buyer to be suspicious. Apart from cropping and colour correction, avoid spending too much of your time 'touching up' your photo.

Not the way to loose the reflection and where's that scratch gone?

Please... Never attempt to hide a defect in this way. - It will reflect in your feedback!

Powerball helped my RSI / Carpal tunnel

My NSD powerball helped my RSI and carpal tunnel syndrome in double quick time. I play guitar a lot and was sick of playing through pain. I do not sell this product, nor am I affiliated to it, this review is written in the spirit of fair play to a product which actually delivered what it promised. Within a couple of hours use I could tell the powerball was working, I had tried acupuncture, osteopaths and spent hundreds on treatments, I even tried resting for 6 months (if you play guitar you will know this is extreme punishment) but it just didn't help. I would say it took around 2-3 weeks use to regain my full range of motion in my left wrist and now after a couple of months use I can play all day again. As ever do make sure you avoid knock off products, the genuine item is branded NSD and is available from a few reputable uk ebay sellers.

I edited this reviewvery slightly a few years onas I still have twinges here and there, this is caused by my incessant guitar playing and is, I suppose, to be expected. I also wanted to add that if you're in a lot of discomfort that rest, massage and light work might be a better option. In short if powerball hurts you you're not ready for it.Also I didn't mean to disrespect Osteopaths, part of my problem is I now understand due to a cervical vertabrae and this needs Osteo.

Fitting a minimoto rocket key

Fitting minimoto rocket keys

Minimotos are fast becoming very popular for leisure riding and also for competitive racing use. There has been a marked move towards improving the performance and power characteristics of these miniature racing machines. One such easy way to enhance the performance of your minimoto is to fit a rocket key. The minimoto rocket key is designed with a 10 degree offset and is a direct replacement for the standard straight cut item. Here are the easy to follow instructions for rocket key fitment:

Fitting a minimoto rocket key

1) Firstly remove the pull start unit from the right side of the minimoto engine, which is held in place by 3 hexagonal head screws and 1 bolt attachment to the cylinder head area.

2) On removing the pull start unit the flywheel will be exposed. The flywheel is retained with a 8mm bolt in the centre. Remove the 8mm bolt with a socket and wrench. In order to stop the flywheel rotating whilst undoing the bolt wedge an Allen key in between one of the flywheel fins and lodge it against the footrest support bar.

3) Once the retaing bolt has been removed, the flywheel can be extracted. There are 2 available methods of extraction.

Method 1 - There are two threaded holes in the flywheel, screw 2 long M6 threaded bolts into these 2 holes and turn evenly in a clockwise direction to prise off the flywheel.

Method 2 - Use a purpose made flywheel puller.

4) On removal of the flywheel, the stock key can now be observed resting in its machined slot in the crankshaft end. Using a small pick simply prise the stock key from its slot.

5) Install the new minimoto rocket key in the vacated slot. Note that the 10 degree offset of the new rocket key should point to the right (towards the front of the machine).

6) Once the rocket key has been fitted in its slot, refit the flywheel and secure with its retaining bolt. It is a good idea at this stage to use some thread locking compound on the retaining bolt. Refit the pull start unit and secure.

Now experience and enjoy the power gains from your newly fitted minimoto rocket key.
